Our trustees Meet the Trustees of The Renewal Programme Martha Foley I am Martha and was appointed as chair of the Renewal Programme in April 2017. I have a Ph.D. degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Chemical Biology as well as a Masters in Business Technology Management. I am the owner and independent consultant with MF Marketing Consultancy based in London, UK which I established in 2011. This provides advisory services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry in Marketing and Change Management. Prior to this, I was Global Director of Strategic Marketing (2010-2011) at Catalent Pharma Solutions. I also worked as Global Segment Marketing Manager, Biosystems (2008-2010) at Leica Microsystems (Danaher) who are a manufacturer of clinical and research oncology testing consumables, where I spearheaded the corporate launch into the Neuroscience Consumables marketplace. In my spare time, I like hiking, reading, and painting. Annette Pascal Hello, I am Annette. I am a retired teacher and consider myself a family oriented person. I have a variety of interests including travel and working with charities. I have been a trustee with the Renewal programme for many years which I have enjoyed greatly and am proud of the excellent work that the charity has done over that time. My motto is inspired by the words of John Wesley, a famous Anglican Cleric who lived in the 18th Century and is credited alongside his brother, Charles Wesley, with founding the Methodist movement:''Do all the good you can, In all the ways you can, To all the people you can, For as long as you can." Arnold Ridout My name is Arnold Ridout. I have been a trustee of the Renewal Programme since 2009 and have lived in Newham for over 35 years. I am married to Jane with 2 grown up children, both of whom went to school and still live in Newham. I am a lawyer in public service where I specialise in EU law. I started my legal career after gaining a BA in Modern History at Mansfield College, Oxford in the 1970s and by the 1990s found myself working in Brussels as a Detached National Expert for the EC Commission's Legal service. Since 2014, I have been working for the House of Commons as Counsel for European Legislation following 6 years as legal advisor to the EU Select committee in the House of Lords. Elis Matthews I am Elis Matthews, a curate at St Paul's Church in East Ham. This is my first role in ordained ministry in the Church of England, which started after my ordination as the deacon in June 2015. I have lived in different parts of Newham since 2005, with a three-year break to attend vicar school in Cambridge. I am married to Sheila and we have a one-year-old son, Barnabas. I studied English in York, then worked for The Scout Association at their UK Headquarters. I supported the Scout Programme as an adviser and worked as a Writer / Editor in print and digital media. I was also chair of governors at Sheringham Primary School in Manor Park, where we oversaw the rebuilding of the school in 2011-12. I enjoy playing the piano, supporting Crystal Palace FC and the Chicago Cubs and a weekly kickabout. I volunteer as a trustee with Faith in Schools, a local charity seeking to deliver outstanding RE lessons in Newham schools. I am learning lots as a trustee of The Renewal Programme! Jackie Withnall My name is Jackie Withnall and I have been a trustee of the Renewal Programme for three years. I was born in Walthamstow and I have spent my whole working life in Newham as a primary teacher, Headteacher and currently as a mentor for teacher training students and senior leaders. I have always been interested in the partnership between parents, community and schools. I am a Governor of two primary schools and a trustee of a small charity (The Cygnus Trust) which works with community groups in Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest. My personal interests include drama, singing, baking and being a member of the WI and a Book Club. I am married with one grown up daughter, who is also a teacher. Chris Lindsey I am an IT professional with experience in the bookmaking industry, banking, and public sectors. More recently I have enjoyed volunteering with various organisations. I have academic degrees in Computing & Economics (UEA 1981) and Mathematics (OU 2015). From 1981, I spent 5 years as a management consultant with Arthur Andersen & Co followed by a further 6 years as an IT Manager with Swiss Bank Corporation. I started at Ladbrokes in 1992 and was assigned to various roles across the Retail IT department before promotion to IT Director for Ladbrokes Retail Division in 2000. I left Ladbrokes and established my own Consulting company in 2012, then retired in 2014 to pursue further study and voluntary work. I completed my Mathematics degree with the OU in 2015. I volunteered with the Whitechapel Mission from 2012-16 and joined the Board of the Essex Savers net Credit Union from 2013-16 where I assisted with strategy, budgeting, and forecasting. I joined the Renewal board in 2016. In 2017 I have started volunteering for Volunteering Matters in Southend supporting families in crisis to help empower them to achieve their objectives. I am married to Anne and we have two adult daughters who both live in London. I particularly enjoy playing racket sports including squash, racket ball and the traditional game of Real tennis.
