Coronavirus Response - July 2020 UPDATE: 14TH JULY 2020 At this time of great worry and uncertainty for us all, we sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are in good health. We can assure you that The Renewal Programme is taking the Coronavirus outbreak seriously and as a team we are reviewing our response regularly in line with government guidelines. We are doing all we can to protect our service users, volunteers, staff and the public. Amended Services Food Bank As a charity that exists to protect and care for the people of Newham, we are doing all we can to continue our work through this difficult time. Following government guidelines, and ensuring everyone’s safety where possible, our doors remain open to the local community who are most in need. Our main site is closed, however our hostels will remain open along with the essential RAMP food bank service. Food parcels will be increased to two weeks of supplies instead of one. We are running two food banks days instead of one and we have expanded the criteria. Now all Newham residents in need of vital food and toiletry supplies can visit us at 395 High Street North We are open Tuesday's & Friday's from 10am-2pm Emergency Appeal During these challenging weeks for Newham, what has stood out is how as a community we pull together, and are stronger together. After partnering with 4 other Newham based charities and running a successful fundraising appeal to provide emergency relief packs to local residents, we are continuing our efforts We're still working hard to help some of the most vulnerable members of the community. And because of the scale of this crisis, this means we are doing even more than normal. The urgent need for food parcels is unprecedented. Our weekly food bank for refugees and migrants has grown to a twice a week hub, providing urgent relief packs to all of our most vulnerable community members. This includes older people, people who are homeless and of course as we did before, those with no recourse to public funds who relied on us before, and now more than ever. Those at greatest risk from social isolation, or who have limited family or support networks to help them are the highest priority. We're doing everything possible to make sure as a community we are protecting the most vulnerable. But we are stronger together, and we need your help to do this. If you would like to help, you can donate online (click here) This pandemic is already placing a strain on our resources like never before. There are more people to help, and less money to do it with. Now is the time for our community to band together for those who need us most. This is why we are turning to you today. Chat Newham Befriending Service We have also launched a volunteer led community support line Calls are operating between 10am – 4pm on weekdays The FREE telephone number of the service is 08081963510. We ask that those seeking support to consider if there are other alternatives (e.g. family members, online delivery) before asking us for support as we would like to prioritise those that really need this service like people without access to public funds, living in shared accommodation, on low income, single parents etc. In this time of crisis, we know our neighbours need us more than ever, especially those who are at high risk. We are grateful for our staff, volunteers and partners who are making this emergency response possible.
