The first One Newham conference is an event for everyone who works in communities or voluntary organisations in Newham, or is interested in what can be achieved through the voluntary sector. If you are a strategic lead, a practitioner or community activist – this day is for you.

You will see how people develop, communities change and what we can do together to help this along. There will be talks, conversations, performances and a fair to inspire you to join our movement.

The full programme will be published in September but here are the themes we will focus on:

Being young in Newham can be fun but also challenging. We will explore how we can support young people to be all they can be.
Being well should be everyone’s concern. We will showcase community health and well-being initiatives and how to partner or get involved.
Being rooted isn’t always easy in a London borough with great transience and housing challenges. We will learn what voluntary action can do to support people building roots and connections in Newham’s communities.
Being creative is a blast in Newham. We will show you what’s happening in the arts and music, and how you can get your community involved.

The themes will be explored through talks to inspire you, conversations to challenge you, workshops to help you develop some interesting ideas, and a fair to explore what’s out there.

The conference is FREE to attend. But places are limited so if you book and give us less than one week’s cancellation notice, we will charge you an administration fee of £40. But if you want to send someone in your place, then that’s fine.
To register your interest, book your place or get more information about running a workshop or a stall at the fair, please email [email protected] and put the date in your diary now!
