Emma Lieghio works at Neck of the Woods Films, the creators of our ‘Dear Newham‘ video. Emma oversees the day to day operations at Neck of the Woods Films and also takes a hands on approach with producing their clients’ films.
My name is Emma Lieghio and I first found out about the Renewal Programme earlier this year when they contacted my film company about creating a film to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
I was born and raised in Southampton, however I travel all over the UK for my work. This is something that enables me to meet so many interesting and different people. I’m always keen to be introduced to new things when I meet people on my travels and I enjoy learning about other cultures.
For someone not from the Newham area, I have felt welcomed in by the community in the borough and I feel that the Renewal Programme sits right at the heart of that. It’s because of this placement that allows me to resonate with the charity’s values on lots of levels.
The project I am most connected to is the 50th anniversary project ‘Dear Newham’, simply because it was my first introduction to the charity. It was a really special opportunity to be a part of that event and to see the community coming together to celebrate how wonderful the Renewal Programme is and how many people’s lives they’ve positively impacted.
Overall, my experience of the people working at the Renewal Programme has been wonderful. Everyone I’ve met has been warm, friendly and welcoming. I couldn’t single out one particular person because everyone has made such a fantastic impression.
The work that the organisation does is incredibly important. Regardless of not being from the area, I hope to keep in regular contact with the Renewal Programme, supporting their work in any way I can.
