My name is Paul Evans and I’m the Housing Services and Support Manager for the Renewal Programme. I’ve worked in Newham for coming up to seven years now and have been at the Renewal Programme since September 2019.
I have 30 years experience in working with vulnerable people, be that homeless, mental health/physical needs, substance misuse and those who are socially isolated. My main interest in what I do is to empower people to make positive change in their lives.
In the two years I’ve been at the organisation, I’ve seen how the Supported Housing team embrace the Renewal Programme’s values (dignity, inclusion, collaboration and empowerment) whole heartedly. I feel most connected to them; they’re my team and I’m very proud of what the staff achieve on a daily basis.
I cannot thank the entire Supported Housing team enough, their commitment to their roles is so positive to see and you can really witness how much they care about the individuals they’re working with.
One of the most exciting things I’ve seen during my time at the Renewal Programme is the improving social footprint of the organisation. You can finally see how much of an impact we have on those we work with the borough of Newham.
The Renewal Programme, to me, means creating opportunities for Newham residents to make positive change in their lives.
When Paul has down time from the Renewal Programme, he’s a keen cyclist. He cycles around about 8000 miles a year.
