"Better Health for Carers can develop a programme which will empower carers to become more resilient through professional training, workshops and courses. This will practically and holistically support and mentor other carers, within a friendly and social environment."
The above was the conclusion reached after an independent evaluation of 10 years funding by the Big Lottery of a Carers Health Support Service in 2017. Based on this and a successful application, The Renewal Programme were awarded funding, for a sustainability project delivering a Carer's Health Empowerment project, for a further three years.
The Renewal Programme's Carers Health Empowerment Programme then launched in June 2019.
Prior to the launch, the Renewal Programme committed to a period of marketing the service, to engage and create interest from the London Borough of Newham Carers Commissioner for Adults & Health Services and the Greater Newham Carers Network.
Newham is made up of a very diverse community, which is equally a reflection of the demographics of the carer community. The Renewal Programme, through the Carer's Health Empowerment Project, has created partnerships and established our project's footprint within the many varied support groups within Newham.
