The theme for Black History Month UK 2025 is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe.
This year, we want to highlight the profound contributions made by Black people, be they leaders, activists, or pioneers who have shaped history, while also looking towards a future of continued empowerment, unity, and growth.
The Renewal Programme is proud to host a series of events that celebrate this resilience, pride, and community, taking place throughout October.
The events include:
Film Screening on Wednesday 15th October from 12 – 2pm
Join us for an uplifting film that celebrates innovation, courage, and the power of community.
Welcome to the Jollof Table in collaboration with guest cook Halimot Ogunnaike on Wednesday 29th October from 12 – 1pm
Join us as special guest Halimot Ogunnaike, shares her journey of resilience, and brings her soul food to the Renewal Programme. We will be having some selected dishes cooked in celebration of Black History Month, as well as some inspirational words shared by Halimot.
The Media Mirror vs Your Soul Identity workshop led by Oyella O. from Lion Voices on Thursday 30th October from 11 – 12:30pm
Led by Oyella Odong, Founder of Lion Voices, this workshop is a powerful, interactive, and healing experience to equip women with the resilience to navigate the negative media landscape. This workshop will be held during the Women’s Coffee Morning.
