Meet Lucy, one of the first volunteers to join our Digital Hub project back in May 2021. Since then, she has contributed over 100 volunteer hours with us. We’re so grateful for Lucy’s contribution to the project; she brings compassion, curiosity and positivity to every session and truly cares about her community.
“I volunteered with the Renewal Programme for one year; what an experience, totally fulfilling and fun!
Volunteering at the community centre has given me the opportunity not only to keep my existing skills fresh, but also the chance of learning new skills, while developing my personal attributes. The experience has been beneficial for my mental health too. I felt inspired by stories from the community and I was strengthened by them; I felt part of the community, and it gave me a sense of purpose.
Volunteering was also a way for me to showcase during interviews qualities that employers value more than experience: been proactive and adaptable to changes; approach situations with empathy, being kind and generous; listening skill and collaboration; have a positive attitude, and many more.
The staff have been welcoming, caring and supportive!
So, what are you waiting for? There are so many ways for you to get involved; give it a try and enjoy it!”

On many occasions, we have had clients visit the Hub and specifically ask after Lucy. She has an ability to make clients feel comfortable and able to share their digital and wider needs. Lucy tailors her digital support to the needs of each client, ensuring that digital skills are embedded into wider holistic support.
We continue to be blown away by Lucy’s dedication and care for service users, regularly going above and beyond to ensure clients receive the highest level of support.
