We’re delighted to announce that the Renewal Programme has been awarded the Trusted Charity Standard Level 1, a nationally recognised quality mark administered by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), the UK’s largest membership organisation for charities and voluntary organisations.
Now celebrating our 55th year, we’ve been supporting people across Newham since 1971. Today, we work alongside thousands of local residents each year through supported housing, education and training, advice services, volunteering, youth and community programmes, and initiatives that promote health, wellbeing and social inclusion.
Following a rigorous independent assessment, we met the required standards across 11 key areas, including governance, leadership, financial management, user-centred services, partnership working and measuring impact. The accreditation provides independent assurance that we are well governed, effectively led and committed to delivering high-quality services for local people.
The assessment recognised our commitment to listening to local people, responding to changing community needs and continually improving the way we deliver our services. It concluded that:
“The Renewal Programme adapts, innovates and continuously improves its services to meet the changing needs of its service users and to help ensure the organisation runs as efficiently and effectively as possible.”
The assessor also highlighted the strength of our joined-up approach, noting that:
“This holistic approach enables service users to overcome barriers and achieve or exceed their personal aspirations.”
Peter Laing, Chief Executive of the Renewal Programme, said:
“We’re thrilled to have achieved the Trusted Charity Standard Level 1. It’s a fantastic recognition of the hard work, dedication and compassion of our staff and volunteers, who regularly go above and beyond to support local people. As the challenges facing our communities continue to grow, trusted, high-quality local charities have never been more important. This independent accreditation gives residents, partners and funders confidence in the quality of our work, while motivating us to keep raising the bar so that more people across Newham can live healthier, happier and more independent lives.”
Achieving the Trusted Charity Standard reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement, accountability and delivering services centred on the needs of local people. It gives residents, partners and funders confidence that we’re operating to nationally recognised standards while continuing to listen, learn and evolve to meet the changing needs of communities across Newham.
