50 Years
The Renewal Programme celebrates 50 years of #TransformingLives in Newham.
Since 1971, the Renewal Programme has provided holistic support and vital services to the people of Newham. We strive to put the community and their needs at the centre of the work we do.
The organisation was founded by a group of forward-thinking, generous individuals, many who spent years volunteering their time and skills to ensure the Renewal Programme was able to provide for the community. Since then, it has grown into a specialist and integrative charity with 50+ employees, 11 Trustees and 40 volunteers. Despite growing at rapid speed, the organisation has remained close to the values and the ambitions of our founders.
For 50 years, through various projects including supported housing, refugee and migrant support, carers health empowerment, adult education & training and youth services, we have been able to empower local residents to recognise their full potential.
Alongside offering the above, The Renewal Programme also provides financial support, immigration advice and advocacy, a bi-weekly food bank, a freephone telephone support line and a befriending service.
As part of our 50th celebrations, we put together an online series titled ‘50 Years, 50 Faces‘, showcasing the impact we’ve had on the community over the last 50 years.
Today our priority is still to meet the needs and requirements of those living within Newham who need our support to empower and transform their lives.
